1. GET STARS IN YOUR EYES AT MILLEVACHES
REGIONAL NATURE PARK

  • Feast your eyes (and ears) at one of 11 stargazing sites at Millevaches Regional Nature Park, now approved as a Dark-Sky Reserve.
  • Reconnect with nature and sleep in a bivouac under the stars in Millevaches in a camping area. Spend the night and watch the stars glitter in the sky. Millevaches Park is protected with no light pollution so it’s the best place to stargaze at night.

2. HIKE THE FOOTPATHS ON THE MAJESTIC PYRENEES

  • Hit the legendary GR 10 footpath through the Pyrenees National Park running west to east through the Basque Country and Béarn. One of the most spectacular hiking paths in France.
  • Walk towards Santiago de Compostela around Saint-Jean-Pied-dePort. You can take the train from Bayonne to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. It’s one of the “Plus Beaux Villages de France” and a stage on the Way of St James. Its old town, cobbled streets and citadel are simply magical. It’s also home to the AOP Irouléguy, a great excuse to walk or ride through its iconic mountainside vineyards.

3. GET UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH NATURE ON MINI ADVENTURES WITH THE LANDES DE GASCOGNE’S ESCAPADES ECOPOSITIVES

  • Watch common cranes in winter. Enjoy some peace and quiet near the Arjuzanx Reserve, a hotspot for grey cranes in winter in La Canopée des Landes.
  • Canoe or kayak down the Leyre and its delta in Arcachon Bay. Join a guide throughout the ride with a VIP evening at the bird reserve.
  • Check out other trip ideas with unique experiences in the Landes de Gascogne.

4. RIDE ON HORSEBACK WITH THE HISTORICAL AND LITERARY ICON AND HIS FELLOW MUSKETEERS ON THE EUROPEAN ROUTE D’ARTAGNAN

The European Route d’Artagnan is the Route des Cardinaux in Charente-Maritime: it’s one of the bridleway’s six routes. The Route des Cardinaux pays tribute to D’Artagnan and the bond between Richelieu, Mazarin and King Louis XIV. Up to 274km of marked trails are yours to explore on horseback with fabulous paths introducing you to one of the most famous musketeers of the 17th century.
The bridleway runs through Haute Saintonge, from La lotte to Saint-Fort-sur-Gironde, then Pays Royannais via Gémozac, Cœur de Saintonge to Saint-Savinien-sur-Charente.
